Spring Banquet 2004

"Odessa-Kutschurgan Colonies" was held May 15, 2004

The spring banquet was another success with a wonderful dinner and a great program with Karl Lacher as the guest speaker. Karl has visited Russia twice in his genealogy quest. He can trace some of his ancestors to the Kutschurgan Colonies in South Russia. His presentation included film from his 1993 trip to that area.

Karl was born and raised in McIntosh County, ND and went on to the University of North Dakota where he received his MBA. He retired in 1990 and has been able to devote more time to genealogy research which began in 1968. He lives in Roseville MN with his wife, Faye; they have four children and six grandchildren.

Karl authored two books and several articles that have appeared in the GRHS Heritage Review. He was instrumental in founding the Kutschurgan group at GRHS and continues to be active with the Kutschurgan listserv which has remained independent. He also served on the GRHS Joseph Height Literary Committee.
