The Rhubarb King - Book Review about North Dakota Memories by Sharon Grenz Chmielarz
Writer Sharon Grenz Cheielarz was the featured speaker for the North Star Chapter October program. Sharon is the daughter of a German-Russian father and a German mother. She read from her new book of poetry, "The Rubarb King". The poems feature memories from Sharon's North Dakota childhood, as wel as stories of people, including Germans fro Russia, who share similar backgrounds before leaving their farm environments to pursue careers in medicine, business and education.
Sharon grew up in Mobridge SD and traveled many times to North Dakota. Her readings and discussion was most entertaining and enjoyed by all.
Also, during the meeting, President Lil Ward receives an award on behalf of the North Star Chapter from Mayo Flegel representing AHSGR
