Pat Lowe Demonstrates
The New LDS Website and More
Pat Lowe, Family History Center staff member since 1977 was the featured guest speaker at the February 24, 2001 North Star Chapter Genealogy Workshop. Pat is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in family history. She has been with the Family History Centers all across the USA, including 2 years in Salt Lake City.
This particular February day was not too good for weather as it was a mixed day of rain and snow. In spite of the weather, a hardy group of Minnesota members attended the session which featured a live on-line demonstration of the latest updates to the LDS website (http://www.lds.org/). Pat navigated the site and discussed the features and what could be done with the site. She also demonstrated the use of the German Russian Website often known as Pixel (http://pixel.cs.vt.edu/library/odessa.html) as it is perhaps the single largest site to research German Russian information.
The session provided for Q & A while Pat talked and because the group was smaller than usual (remember that weather), the group was able to do more then what is sometimes possible with a larger group.
