Kathryn Adams Doty, Author of "A Long Year of Silence"

In 1939, she left Minnesota for a career in the movies under the name Kathryn Adams. After leaving acting to marry and raise three children with Hugh Beaumont ("Ward Clever") of the "Leave it to Beaver" fame, Kathryn Doty taught school, earned a master's degree in educational psychology, became a licensed psychologist, and after retirement, returned to her first love: writing. She returned to Minnesota in 1977, where she lives with her husband, Fred Doty.
Kathryn discussed her book "A Long Year of Silence" (book review was published in the September 2004 Newsletter). She was born in New Ulm MN, the daughter of Reverend Christian Hohn, pastor of the city's German Methodist church. Kathryn discssed and read numerous parts of her book and how it came to be. How she remembers what she experienced to write this fictional book which is based on her life's experience in New Ulm MN.
