Oh! The Places We've Been

Chapter Meeting

and Genealogy Research Day

Saturday, February 14, 2004

Two of our chapter members provided some perspective on "Living History". In the morning, Duane Stabler will presented "Through Grandfather's Eyes: Post Cards Are a Window to the Past". Duane shared his vintage postcard collection of small towns of the Great Plains, showing what life was like in these towns during his grandfather's day. Duane used a projector to show the images on a large screen.

In the afternoon, Al Oster talked about his experience as a civilian worker in an airplane factory during WWII. One of the airplanes built at the factory had special features and was named Enola Gay. In August 1945, Al learned that the special features of this aircraft were to accommodate it's special mission of carrying atomic bombs. Al shared his historical perspective on working at the airplane factory.

No photos were available from Duane's presentation.
