- Somewhere
in my web travels, I came across this item.
I think it applies so well to some of us! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when I first read it.
23rd Psalm
for Genealogists
Genealogy is my pastime, I shall not stray
It maketh me to lie down and examine tombstones
It leadeth me into still courthouses
It restoreth my Ancestral Knowledge
It leadeth me in the paths of census records and ships' passenger lists for my
surnames' sake
Yea, though I walk through the shadows of research libraries and microfilm
readers
I shall fear no discouragement, for a strong urge is within me
The curiosity and motivation, they comforteth me
It demandeth preparation of storage space for the acquisition of countless
documents
It anointest my head with burning midnight oil
My family group sheets runneth over
Surely, birth, marriage, and death dates shall follow me all the days of
my life
And I shall dwell in the house of a family history-seeker forever.

- Bureau of
Land Management records are online as part of the US GenWeb site for North and
South Dakota as follows:
North Dakota site is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nd/
for links to content.
South Dakota site is:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/sd/land/sdland.htm
- The South Dakota
site consists 71.5 MBytes and covers over 650,000 parcels of land in the database, the Patent Number is called
"DOCID". If there is more than one parcel of land with the same
person's name and the same DOCID, you will get all of the information by
submitting one Form 84. If there are different DOCID's, then you will need to
submit a separate form for each DOCID.

I found the following link to an index of Bowdle, SD, obituaries while
searching for some of my relatives.

Here's a page of online bookstores
& publishers world wide:

and in particular, German bookstores: http://eleaston.com/books/index.html#german
On GR-Genealogy Sherrie Stahl
pointed out the following Railroad Map

- For those of you
who have not heard about this., PAF is now available in a windows version and
can be downloaded from: http://www.familysearch.org/OtherResources/paf4/ I have downloaded a copy and have put it
through a number of trials and am quite impressed with it. It has a very flexible report printing
system and for the most part did a fine job of importing my Family Tree Maker
files.
The
downside is that it does not handle multiple dates i.e. conflicting
information. It has the capability of
handling photographs, and other multimedia files. Give it a try. For my
part I will keep my copy and use it for generating reports as it does a better
job of handling some than does Family Tree Maker. There is no cost for this program. I am not sure if there is a Mac version as yet.
